Article introduction
This article examines Iran’s goals and opportunities in potential BRICS membership. Using a descriptive–analytical method and library data, it analyzes how the weakening of US hegemony and the emergence of BRICS shape Iran’s decision to take advantage of this opportunity.
The findings indicate that through BRICS membership, Iran can counter US hegemony, safeguard its national security, and avoid isolation in the international system. The presence of China and Russia as powerful BRICS members enables Iran to strengthen its legitimate leadership role in West Asia and, with new security and economic backing, expand its regional influence.
