The Political–Economic Outlook of BRICS

Article introduction
This article analyzes the economic and political position of BRICS in the emerging global order. Against the backdrop of global transition and states’ efforts to strengthen their status through regional and international unions and blocs, the study assesses the potential and actual capacities of BRICS.
The findings show that BRICS’s five members account for more than 30% of the world’s land area, over 43% of the global population, and about 25% of global GDP, while their foreign exchange reserves total approximately 4.4 trillion dollars. The article emphasizes that, owing to its economic and demographic weight, BRICS plays a key role in shaping the global economic and political order and that analyzing these capacities is essential for understanding the group’s future outlook.
