Article introduction
This article explores the role and impact of BRICS emerging economies in the contemporary international system. Using an analytical–explanatory approach, it studies the rise of emerging powers and the implications for international and geopolitical policymaking.
The findings show that BRICS, through the decision to establish a joint bank, seeks to challenge and compete with Western institutions such as the World Bank and the IMF and plays an influential role in global issues such as climate change and financial instability. According to its members, BRICS is a supporter of developing countries and a promoter of economic balance and justice within a world dominated by Western financial systems. Understanding BRICS’s role in global developments is essential for formulating future strategic policies.
