About the article
This article examines the role and impact of BRICS in shaping a new global order. The authors seek to show how BRICS, through its economic, political, and diplomatic power and by creating new financial institutions such as the BRICS Development Bank, can gradually shift the US-dominated unipolar order toward a more multipolar system.
The article emphasizes that BRICS, through relative convergence among its members and collective actions in international arenas—particularly in economic, financial, and political domains—has consolidated its status as an important international actor. By adopting policies such as support for national self-determination, opposition to hegemonic behavior, and criticism of the Western-led global order, BRICS strengthens its role in soft balancing against the West.
